La Dolce Vita Turns 25!

Recently Heritage Listed La Dolce Vita Celebrates Its 25th Birthday!

Park Road’s iconic La Dolce Vita Restaurant and Café is celebrating 25 years of the “sweet life”.

And what did the restaurant get for its birthday? It was recently heritage listed by the Brisbane City Council.

La Dolce Vita owner Joe Virzi.

When La Dolce Vita opened its doors 25 years ago - characterised by a mini Eiffel Tower - it pioneered the Brisbane alfresco scene, creating the little Europe dining precinct that became one of the main dining strips of Brisbane.

Today La Dolce Vita is run by four generations of the Virzi family, with owner Joe Virzi running the show.

“I’m very proud to work with my family ... our strength is part of our success. My father is here from 5.30am every morning and I’m here from the tail end of lunch until the wee hours,” Mr Virzi said.

Mr Virzi attributes the popularity of his coffee to the perfect blend of science and love.

“It’s only great if you love what you do. You have to talk to the machine!”

Mr Virzi has planned an entire year of celebrations to mark the restaurant’s 25th, including the launch of an intriguing coffee pasta and 24 hour operation for the 2014 soccer World Cup.
