Springtime At The Regatta Hotel

Merele Thornton and Rosalie Bognor

Spring is in the air and with it comes a change in menu at the local icon, The Regatta Hotel. We suggest you dust off your sunnies, grab some mates and head down to try out the new Spring Cocktail List in Merle’s Bar and Courtyard Menu.

50 years ago Merle Thornton and Rosalie Bognor chained themselves to the Regatta’s public bar in an act of demonstration against the oppression of women – including drinking public. The women stayed chained to the foot rail of the bar all day and this act became one of Australia’s defining feminist moments. In recognition of this radical act the Regatta Hotel named its cocktail bar after Merle back in April 2014.

The Regatta Hotel

You can toast to Merle with one of new cocktails that has launched this spring. We’re really looking forward to trialling the Peach & Passionfruit Sour or spending Sunday sipping on a refreshing Lychee Cucumber Southside.

Before you make your way through the whole cocktail list you should probably put something in your belly. The Courtyard has released a new menu and we’re so excited to try out the selection of Yum Cha and Pulled pork sliders on the list.
