Earthworks at FKP’s exciting new development The Milton have been making good time since the Soil Turning event at the end of March.

The Milton ApartmentsBrisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk joined FKP Director of Developments Mark Jewell to officially mark the start of construction and show support for the project.

“The site has been cleared and the first phase of construction is well and truly underway, this day has been a long time coming and it is exciting to see activity on-site,” Mr Jewell said.

Situated on Railway Terrace right next to Milton Railway Station, The Milton is only two train stops from the Brisbane CBD, giving residents easy access to destinations right across Brisbane and reducing reliance on cars & congested roads.

milton soil tunring eventThe Milton is the first major Transit Oriented Development (TOD) as part of the South East Queensland Regional Plan. In line with this plan the apartment complex has been designed around the use of public transport, making way for future population growth.

“The exciting notion of TOD has been embraced in major metropolitan centres around the world and we expect The Milton Residences will pave the way for more TOD to be released right across the city,” Mr Jewell said.

This TOD project is expected to have a huge impact on the Milton area, bringing more clientele to local businesses. The construction project alone is generating hundreds of jobs and once completed will also provide retail & commercial spaces creating ongoing employment opportunities.

Display modelFKP have released over 1000sqm of street level retail space fronting Railway Terrace and extending into the Park Road restaurant precinct. “The Milton will be a great boost for local residents and businesses alike, injecting new retail options into the precinct,” he said.

There is even a new City Cat facility to be built at the end of Park Road which is expected to not only bring more people to the local shops & restaurants of the area, but also drive up Milton property values.

Although much of the site was under water during the 2011 floods, last January saw no flooding thanks to new drainage systems in place. There are no below ground car parks in the building plans so there will be no issues of basement flooding either.

Publicity surrounding The MiltonThe Milton Residences have been one of the fastest selling property developments in the Inner West with more than 65 per cent of the apartments already sold off the plan.

“Sales have been consistently strong since The Milton Residences was launched to the market and we expect the momentum to continue with the project entering an exciting new phase, with construction officially underway,” Mr Jewell said.

“Milton has historically been one of Brisbane’s most sought-after suburbs and is one of the most undersupplied markets in inner Brisbane.

The Milton features 298 one and two bedroom apartments in Brisbane, as well as five-star residences in the 30-storey tower.

Apartments are still for sale off the plan with prices starting from $410,000 and completion of the project expected in 2015.
